  127. MySpell Developer Credits:
  128. Special credit and thanks go to ispell's creator Geoff Kuenning.
  129. Ispell affix compression code was used as the basis for the
  130. affix code used in MySpell. Specifically Geoff's use of a
  131. conds[] array that makes it easy to check if the conditions
  132. required for a particular affix are present was very
  133. ingenious! Kudos to Geoff. Very nicely done.
  134. BTW: ispell is available under a BSD style license
  135. from Geoff Kuennings ispell website:
  136. http://www.cs.ucla.edu/ficus-members/geoff/ispell.html
  137. Kevin Hendricks <kevin.hendricks@sympatico.ca> is the original
  138. author and now maintainer of the MySpell codebase. Recent
  139. additions include ngram support, and related character maps
  140. to help improve and create suggestions for very poorly
  141. spelled words.
  142. Please send any and all contributions or improvements
  143. to him or to dev@lingucomponent.openoffice.org.
  144. David Einstein (Deinst@world.std.com) developed an almost
  145. complete rewrite of MySpell for use by the Mozilla project.
  146. David and I are now working on parallel development tracks
  147. to help our respective projects (Mozilla and OpenOffice.org)
  148. and we will maintain full affix file and dictionary file
  149. compatibility and work on merging our versions of MySpell
  150. back into a single tree. David has been a significant help
  151. in improving MySpell.
  152. Németh László <nemethl@gyorsposta.hu> is the author of
  153. the Hungarian dictionary and he developed and contributed
  154. extensive changes to MySpell including ...
  155. * code to support compound words in MySpell
  156. * fixed numerous problems with encoding case conversion tables.
  157. * designed/developed replacement tables to improve suggestions
  158. * changed affix file parsing to trees to greatly speed loading
  159. * removed the need for malloc/free pairs in suffix_check which
  160. speeds up spell checking in suffix rich languages by 20%
  161. Davide Prina <davideprina@uahoo.com>, Giuseppe Modugno
  162. <gppe.modugno@libero.it>, Gianluca Turconi <luctur@comeg.it>
  163. all from the it_IT OpenOffice.org team performed an
  164. extremely detailed code review of MySpell and generated
  165. fixes for bugs, leaks, and speedup improvements.
  166. Simon Brouwer <simon.oo.o@xs4all.nl> for fixes and enhancements
  167. that have greatly improved MySpell auggestions
  168. * n-gram suggestions for an initcap word have an init. cap.
  169. * fix for too many n-gram suggestions from specialized dictionary,
  170. * fix for long suggestions rather than close ones in case of
  171. dictionaries with many compound words (kompuuter)
  172. * optionally disabling split-word suggestions (controlled
  173. by NOSPLITSUGS line in affix file)
  174. Special Thanks to all others who have either contributed ideas or
  175. testing for MySpell
  176. Thanks,
  177. Kevin Hendricks
